What is Stack & Joules?
A non profit that aims to bridge the tech opportunity gap with a specialized curriculum in computer programming for building automation controls.
Lines
Our design concept sought to seamlessly incorporate the linear essence of digital signals, emphasizing pristine lines and fixtures. The pursuit of a cohesive visual narrative was evident from the projects inception. This commitment led us to embrace the Juniper Design Thin System for our pendants, complemented by a unified cove that gracefully envelops the majority of the space. Beyond the technical aspects, our vision extended to crafting an environment that embodies the sophistication of a modern tech firm's headquarters—a space that exudes simplicity and elegance, intended to elevate both the physical surroundings and the students who inhabit it.

Waves
The second facet of our design draws inspiration from the rhythmic undulations of sine waves. To emphasize this alternating flow, we envisioned a captivating wavy feature wall as the focal point upon entering the space, purposefully contrasting the linear nature of digital signal waves present elsewhere. Departing from conventional curved surfaces like plastered walls, our aim was to spotlight the collaborative essence of the non-profit's mission—a collective effort forming a cohesive whole. By crafting the wall and wavy ceiling from wooden slats, they contribute to the contour of a wave without being curved themselves. This design choice introduces a dynamic 3D effect, creating a visually engaging experience as individuals traverse the space, especially along the stairs, worshop areas and beyond.
Custom wooden slats line the entry wall and are lit by recessed linear fixtures that highlight the characteristic undulations of the piece.
A statement piece by StickBulb illuminates the reception desk, along with a bespoke luminous logo sculpture, recessed into a circular aperture on the wall.
A dynamic space where Stacks & Joules can conduct their lessons — where the lines interact with the waves.
An open plan workspace with indirect lighting sources all around, providing a comfortable environment for computer dwellers.
